65th Anniversary
I love CCHSM to bits...yay it's the 65th anniversary and I think it's a massive bash for us...although the 65 year part seems abit unusual as most schools would be doing it at 50,75,whatever with a multiple of 10 or 25.cheonging to the esplanade not withstanding,last anniv,8^2 years(64) it's a bazaar which I succeeded spending $110.not that it mattered,but the benefactors of CCHSM were very enthu about having their gala premiere of Lake Odyssey at the esplanade,complete with minister GOH,people from CCHSM and all the happy stuff
For you noobs here's a recap of CCHSM history,one of the most famous SAP schools,and the most traditional...which sadly has been derided by the more pragmatic English guys as cheena...as far as history is concerned,they have the same sort of prestige as ACS,RI,RGS,CHS,NYGH and the Old Money.after a chequered start before the war in 1939,a move to Goodman Rd and surviving the famous sit-in by students in protest to the British NS during the turbulent 50s,halcyon days of the 60s with a burgeoning population,a dry spell in the 70s and going from strength to strength throughout the last 20 something years with its SAP status and later autonomous...we look quite good on autopilot.who says cheena=oldfashioned?we're damn proud of our heritage,without quite having those Anglo ppl dumbing themselves with mammon
since our strength is wushu(National champs for most of the time.looks like Dunman High is not impressed),calligraphy,whatever that's chinese,apeing Tan Swie Hian's multi-art performance in the Esplanade in 200X seems the way to go.but putting 4 short dramas and a showcase inside seems unusual...and Dom's damn good in the 3rd one while the last one is the classy wushu show.the finale's quite drama cuz it's the choir singing some very ol'fashioned chinese song which I can't remember the name.here's the video clip to this(my blogging skills is quite rudimentary,so please bear with it if it doesn't load as planned)
