Braveheart Anderson,down but never out

Well, what can we say?I just felt crappy after RJ whacked TJ 6-0.That means our heroes are out.so much for that encore of what happened at mjc 3 weeks ago during interhouse.2 3-2 losses(AC and M) and 0-0 draws(SA and those mustards) each aren't the best of scores, but I'd dare say they did well.

IT'S OKAY...IT'S ALRIGHT...AJ AJ FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT

At least we played with heart and soul, something which NY doesn't even have AT ALL.losing 10-0 to AC is one thing, but just throwing in the bucket is an insult to sport.they're lucky singapore doesn't have any football hoolies,or else i dun think they can get away from being threatened or even attacked by irate fans

Update

Hockey guys won 2-0 but are out because NJ ate their other game
(added on Friday)Netballers pawned NY 69-20,last opponent 71-24 and now NJ trails on goal difference

Braveheart Anderson with unfinished business

3 games came and went in a whirl

AJ 0 HC 0-those ******** love to screw people,be it R,N,V or us...or even anyone in general.with SA and RJ drawing we just kinda earnt little apart from hope
AJ X RJ X-played for 20 mins and 0-0,then rain meant the refs postponed the event
AJ 3 TJ 1-this time it's the young ones to shine.Yen Hao,though, forced an own goal out of the TJ defence.but to sour things up,MJ were leading 5-1 against RJ before the rain meant that the lucky Rafflesians got a reprieve

crap updates so far for our A Div guys

Volleyball:2-0 kings and queens
Basketball:all wins, except RJ girls owning us by 52-25
Netball:Leens and Gang pawned MJ for 49 and only NJ stands in the way...if Yao En got to do one up
Hockey:Girls have one game in hand and getting away with a 2-0 win.Guys...1-0 loss to SA and they need some inspiration
Table Tennis and Squash:Not their fault.at least you tried your best.AJ isn't a mercenary school

What's up outside?

HC fired the first salvo by beating RJ 5-4 in waterpolo finals.actually I'm part gryphon part jaguar so that's a problem

this is damn amusing

RJC:PAP stronghold, right down to their all white uniform(for the guys.for gals, green flares ought to work the same way)
HCI:It's a matter of who gets the potential candidate first.Opposition does have 1 or 2,but it's PAP territory
NJC:PAP has the most MPs coming from here.but don't try to discount an opposition member
VJC:WP has a candidate from there.other than that...the PAP left this place untouched for now
TJC:ah-ha another lawyer from there.
ACJC:we are damn sure this is PAP territory as well.they own and rule the country at the same time, while Rafflesians rule the country to a larger extent.that accounts for their stretching skills
SAJC:since Saints have a long history,it's granted that a candidate would really come from there.and eventually they do,under the PAP banner
NYJC:surprisingly,they have a few,with a good mix of the opposition,or PAP.take your pick
CJC:I'd be sure the new generation would have been inspired by their seniors of seniors when they finally realised they have an MP who's from there
SRJC:it's announced that an opposition candidate hails from there, much to my surprise

AJC:sort of Swiss-style neutrality ensues here, unless some oposition slim shady decides to stand up

Braveheart Anderson-Bravo

we nearly lost it,but it's been a nice match ever.1-0 by half time by Guoxing and then the second half started like the first half, before the prolific Yen Hao settled things and moved closer to their 5 win target, here's the equation

since the maximum points AJ can reach is 16,and RJ and SA won their games(12 and 11 points),they are tipped to battle for the top 2 spots.but then RJ are having a problem with their 4 games,as AJ,MJ and SA loom large.they have 4-5 points to take before they make can actually stand a chance of toppling AJ and SA.if the 2 draw and AJ win,it might spell trouble,as defeat against MJ means they are very close to losing out.SA has an easier task,5-6 points, but with 3 games left draw against RJ and they might have to be careful about drawing too many matches.by then Tp and SA are out of the running,so AJ do stand a mathematical chance of going through if things go their way

Braveheart Anderson Again

Yeah yeah...we're in it at last.3-1 against NYJC and now it's possible that we can get through an improbable 2nd place and a face-off with VJC...provided these conditions are met

AJC

Next matches:TP,HC,R,T
lost 2 and drew 1 before the win.pivotal games will be against TP and RJ in a stretch of 4.needs a miracle to get through but given this group has been quite evenly drawn, expect a surprise or 2.In fact the mission is a simple one:win all their remaining games and score as many as possible because they might boil down to goal difference

MJC

Next matches:NY,T,R,TP,AC
Having a game on hand against ACJC,they had been quite hot after losing against SA.6 out of 3 games with 1 game in hand they are faves to avoid VJ in the semis.pitch them to edge past Raffles in a stern test.In fact they are tipped widely to win everything, barring a catastrophic loss of plot.predictably they are first

SAJC

Next matches:NY,R,TP,HC
stuttered after their magnificent win against MJ with draws against AJ and AC before coming back against TJ.should they draw a match or two they might as well just pass up their chance for the final.RJ might squeeze a point out of them and they're the team to beat at the moment if anyone wants to re-ignite their title hopes.1 loss out of 4 games might not harm them, but any draws in that streak may be trouble.TP is now widely to be given an assasin role this time round.should there be a draw too many, they might actually face elimination(even 2D2W may actually be fatal if anyone with 16 can conjure a better goal difference,if not a face2face record)

RJC

Next matches:AC,SA,AJ(!),MJ,TJ
sizzling hot with 3 out of 3 wins(HC,NY,TP) but their stern test is up against SA and MJ.dropping any game will mean they're gone case,as well as AJ.draws against both of them might as well mean they are in some kind of trouble. If AC can sneak a draw, they are staring straight at elimination

ACJC

Next matches:R,T,TP,HC,NY,MJ
another outsider with a chance.next match pits them with their eternal rivals.they cannot draw too many matches as they are now outsiders.even with 6 matches to go,since 3 points out of 18 are gone, any draw will render them in trouble.they might actually spring a surprise or two,so watch this space

TPJC

Next matches:AJ(!),AC,SA,MJ,NY
Like RJ they have not seen the big guns yet.they are forced to get maximum points for their last 3 fixtures or they are gone case.this is especially true given SA and MJ are predicted to win them.losing against RJ means they are in a delicate situation

The Importance of Cohesion

Okok,in spite of all the nice intentions of Youth Avenue in trying to coax a cordial relationship and decent cohesion between JC,ITE and Poly students, thanks to ITE West,RJC and I dunno which Poly,we still have some black sheep in some JCs who thinks they are more superior than Poly students, blackmailing most of us the innocent ones in the process.SHAME ON YOU YOB!!

Apparently you can do anything in cyberspace, but not to the extent where you can call Poly students the following.I've taken this and a few other stuff from the New Paper. All rights reserved to them

Stupid - 'If someone can't even meet the minimum cut-off to enter a JC, it's just plain sad'
Childish - 'People from poly should know their place'

In fact, that sparked out an all out war.Poly students were ostensibly upset at such mindless generalisations, smashing back at their JC counterparts being illogical thinkers and being like nerds.if that was so,I wouldn't be surprised(or even amused) if the police would have to start prepping for an all out civil war at Orchard Road.In fact the need for Youth Avenue would have been clearly presented, and we need a wider reach where promoting such cohesion is concerned

Coming from a JC student,I believe that the lack of interaction between Poly and JC students, and even ITE students, are a concern as one more event such as this would have been disastrous to efforts like Youth Avenue. In part that has led to the formation of stereotypes between all the parties, having been ill informed of how each other does their stuff.I use this post to clarify all those stereotypes that has been here for so long.I try to be impartial as far as possible

'If someone can't even meet the minimum cut-off to enter a JC, it's just plain sad'

actually that's true to a certain extent, given we are in a meritocratic society.BUT Redpony WASN'T SUPPOSED TO USE THAT TO SLAM POLY STUDENTS!Poly students have their freedom to go to a poly to further their education even when they meet the minimum cutoff for any JC,and you won't be surprised if you see people with single digits having a direction and decide Poly is better for them.

Lest you forgot, there are people who are desperate for a JC-like education even if they neither meet the cutoff points nor wanna go poly at all.Just go to Millenia Institute and you'll know why.and pardon my words, but I think they are on a downward spiral

'People from poly should know their place'-

awfully childish.like Redpony didn't think carefully.again this is an example of how deep-seated stereotypes can be,particularly where university admission are concerned.most JC students think that their Poly counterparts won't be able to make it in plum courses such as engineering, law and medicine(FYI,we're gonna have a doc who took the unconventional route to medical school from Poly) and they won't be able to even get admitted into courses, let alone cope with university and get a degree.Poly students,in contrast think JC students are surefire get degree one.

This statement is rendered false since it is known that some Poly students have more hunger, verve and drive than their counterparts who are in/graduated from JC.Not that I'm siding with them, but admit it,some JC students think life's a piece of cake after they've got their A level cert and a cushy reservation for a place in the university.in fact, redpony seems as if he's still living in the 1980s...damn

'The fact that we can do better in all the exams up till now means that we have a better learning ability than the rest of you. We still do well in subjects we don't like. Put an average JC student in a poly and he'll ace everything. HTML? Teach it to any JC student and he will definitely master it in less than half the time poly people take. I don't see how the poly kids can ever do better than any jc boy when they can't even do well for the O Levels. O Levels is just elementary stuff. Simple maths, simple science and basic mastery of your languages.'-

Time and again,I would want to emphasise that Poly and JC students have different abilities!what we're tested are different. While JC students get tested on more challenging theories to challenge their breadth in learning, the Poly dudes are examined on their depth of learning through practicals, coursework and the heck.whatever the case they are meant to be rigorous, but JC students has a more intense,if shorter experience

In fact you might be tempted to experiment with JC students putting them in a Poly in the false hope he will master everything, and that when Poly students are put in a JC they can't even understand anything. What i predict is that the JC dude will wish he would have gone back to his mates even if he excelled while the Poly dude would have had impressed the tutor(s) with their alternate prespectives even if they had to take a longer time to understand

And the O levels isn't a be-all end all for students.sometimes people who did badly for their A levels are worse off than their friends in Poly.I'm not kidding since I'm from a JC.there has been a few seniors who fall short of expectations and wished they had done somewhat better

'...I really wish I have as much time as the rest of you. Poly people have all the time. Like you need to put in any effort to get a diploma. LOL. I can't maple as much. I'm just browsing the forums and doing my work at the same time.'

Are you sure??Poly people have all the time...to do what they really want, and serve the society.have you ever noticed that most people who do social work and all the help are from poly.ALL because JC students love to give the same old rehashed excuse that they have no time because they want to mug.I know, because I'm guilty of giving this excuse before. In fact,if you add their coursework and other things together, they wished they have as much time as the JC students to finish their work so they can put what they learnt into practice.and obviously redpony was lying when he was multitasking.

'You think JC student so good, ah? In fact they are worse - they can't even think logically.
'They only know how to memorise books. So what if you are good in memorising but your mind is not flexible? You still lose out.'-a poly student obviously incensed by redpony

This is a fallacy. We ain't that good as some poly people expected.neither we're worse. If we can't think logically,we wouldn't even have been in JC at all!And who said we only know how to memorise books?I'd beg to differ because we ain't just those nutcases who only read tutorials and do them.WE have our own CCAs to take care of,CIP and other activities.we're just as clever and we also know the importance of CCA and whatsoever have you so that we don't lose out

Poly people has their minds trained to be flexible in one way.Are you telling me that JC students' minds aren't flexible?A JC student might as well rebut a Poly student saying the above quote by saying that they are made to think flexible in another way,and it's futile to compare with each other's systems

'...JC is for nerds'-another poly student who opted for poly instead of JC even with a swee score

Sure, there are nerds in JC,but is it assumed that JC are for nerds because there are a few nerds?I can tell you that in JC there are some people who do not fit in a clearcut category.there are just as much nerdy sheep as there are the amount of black sheep.JC students can be just as hyper as Poly students.and actually I wouldn't want to expose it,there are a few nerds in Poly, though I bet they would be afraid to admit it.I believe that we should celebrate diversity in schools instead of pigeonholing and stereotyping what type of students would be associated with whatever institutions

In my opinion, being a Poly student is very much different from being a JC student.come to think of it,whatever the Poly student lacks in his hard facts,he more than makes up for it with a better common sense and being more streetsmart, self disciplined and independent.Up till now there are still a few JC students who still act as if the whole damned wide world owes them a living even when they 'mature' and go to university.what the poly student would feel thankful about is that they weren't whiners in the end.If redpony thinks only JC students can succeed, the hard fact is that there are some poly people who actually end up serving the society and be a boon to their occupation, friends and the economy in general, while there are still other JC graduates who got too complacent and then fall by the wayside

In conclusion,to the user called Redpony,PLEASE...I'M BEGGING YOU,PLEASE,IN THE NAME OF ALL THE JC STUDENTS WHOM YOU'VE BLACKMAILED AND IN THE INTERESTS OF SOCIAL COHESION,PLEASE SHOW YOUR FACE RIGHT AWAY AND GIVE A WRITTEN APOLOGY TO ANYONE YOU HAVE OFFENDED.FAILURE TO DO SO WILL RESULT IN A REFERRAL TO THE RELEVANT AUTHORITIES.I,LIKE MOST JC STUDENTS,WILL NOT,AND SHALL NOT,TOLERATE ANYTHING THAT DAMAGES COHESION BETWEEN STUDENTS WITH DIFFERENT SOCIAL AND EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUNDS,WHETHER IN PRINT MEDIA OR CYBERSPACE.IF YOU HAVE A CONSCIENCE,PLEASE APOLOGISE BEFORE WE GET NASTY!

Braveheart Anderson.Pride and Glory

MJ 3 AJ 2-after a late goal

We gave them quite a fright after we went 2-0 down, but we showed extraordinary spirit to claw back into the game.that includes a brave penalty save from our goalie after a controversial penalty was given.having a goal disallowed does not stop Meridian from doing their usual business, but for a side humbled 3-2 by the Saints it was something to regain lost pride as defending champions.last time they were washed out by Saints, this time they were scared stiff by us!In fact, they had a fortunate goal to get away from it before blowing up

We lost with pride, but we put on a good fight...and we hope that next time we can do better!

record reads..

2-3 AC.fritter jitters
0-0 SA.tough nut to crack, held on our own
2-3 MJ.gave them a scare from 2 goals down.bravo!

and contrary to what people told me,I counted at least 100 people making the trip to MJ regardless of distance as we made ourselves heard and put on a good fight.it didn't help that Lucia was too late to take the photograph of the galloping major,by at least memories stay long forever even when the picture fades.I wasn't going to miss that chance though, and courtesy of a super soccer fan called Ms Ng...she helped booked a bus for a slavering pack of supporters, and even had an announcement on the PA system which was nearly the same shit I advertised.what a feat.Even if it felt weird having 10% of their strength,we have the strength to make ourselves heard. We do seem like a bunch of Italian away game supporters,so it's a surprise when I was asked to the track to rally the guys with the flag.just how many people who has the guts to do that remains to be seen...looks like Welyon's going to supervise me already

AJ is proud of our footballers.the 2006 squad.brilliant
